Terms of Service
Last updated: 19 July 2026
These terms set out how Brickwork ("I", "me") provides website design and related services to you ("the client"). By engaging me — for example by paying a deposit — you agree to these terms.
Plain-English summary: the mockup is free, you pay 50% to start and 50% when you're happy, you own the finished site once it's paid in full, and third-party costs like Shopify and domains aren't included.
1. The free mockup
I provide an initial visual mockup at no cost and with no obligation. The mockup remains my property until a project is commissioned and paid for. Requesting a mockup does not create a contract to build a site.
2. Payment
- Projects are quoted upfront at the prices shown on my site or in writing.
- A 50% deposit is due to secure your slot and begin work. The remaining 50% is due once the finished site is approved by you and before it goes live or files are transferred.
- Card payments are handled by Stripe. I never see or store your card details.
2a. Recurring plans
Monthly Website Care and the AI Receptionist monthly fee are recurring subscriptions. They are charged on the same date each month until you cancel. There is no minimum term and no cancellation fee.
Before you are asked for any payment details you will be shown the amount, how often it recurs, that it continues until cancelled, and how to cancel. Your agreement to the recurring charge is taken separately from your agreement to these terms — accepting these terms alone does not enrol you in anything.
To cancel: use the form at brickworkstudio.net/cancel, or reply "cancel" to any email from me, or send a WhatsApp message. Any one of those is enough on its own. You will never be asked to telephone me, to give a reason, or to sit through an offer first. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you have already paid for, you keep access until then, and your website stays live and stays yours.
After a plan starts I send a written confirmation stating the amount, the date of the next charge and the cancellation link, so you have it in a form you can keep. If you are charged for a month you did not want, tell me and I will refund it — see the refund policy.
3. Timelines
My 7-day delivery target begins the day after I receive your completed brief and deposit. Timelines depend on you supplying content and feedback promptly. If something outside my reasonable control causes a delay, I will tell you as soon as possible.
4. Revisions & aftercare
Each project includes reasonable revisions during the build plus 7 days of free changes after launch. Substantial changes of scope after approval may be quoted separately or covered under a Monthly Website Care plan.
5. Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate information and any content, logos or assets you want used.
- Ensure you have the right to use any material you supply.
- Maintain your own accounts for third-party services (e.g. Shopify, domain registrar, email).
6. Third-party costs
My prices cover design and build only. Subscriptions and fees for third-party platforms — such as Shopify plans (around £25/month), domain names, premium apps or paid integrations — are paid by you directly to those providers and are not included.
7. Ownership
Once your project is paid in full, you own the finished website and its custom design. Until then, all work remains my property. I may use non-confidential aspects of completed work in my portfolio unless you ask me not to.
8. Cancellation & refunds
You can cancel before work begins for a full refund of the deposit. If you cancel after work has started, the deposit covers work completed to that point. Because the mockup is free and the balance is only due on approval, you are never asked to pay in full for a site you haven't approved.
If you are a consumer (engaging me for personal rather than business purposes), you also have a 14-day right to cancel a distance contract under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. By paying your deposit you ask me to begin work within that 14-day period; if you cancel before the work is complete you pay only for what has been done, and once the work is complete the cancellation right ends. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights.
9. Liability
I deliver my services with reasonable skill and care. To the extent permitted by law, my total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid for the relevant project. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. These terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.
